Can I compete at IBO 2017?

If you wish to take part at IBO 2017 you must first compete in your National Biology Olympiad (NBO). National teams will be made up the four winners from their respective NBO. Find information on your National Biology Olympiad

 

What topics will be covered in the IBO 2017 exams?

The topics for the Practical Tasks will be plant biology, biochemistry and developmental physiology. The theory tasks will follow the IBO Syllabus as found in the IBO Regulations Guide.

 

How do I register for IBO 2017?

If you are selected to represent your country at IBO 2017, you do not need to register yourself for the event. You will be registered by your country as a delegation.

If you are registering a delegation, you can do this online through our registration page. Please note that registration should be completed by the Country Coodinator and this individual will have received login credentials from the IBO 2017 organisers.

 

Can I volunteer at IBO 2017?

Volunteer applications for IBO 2017 are now closed. We look forward to welcoming selected volunteers to IBO 2017 in July!

 

My country is not an IBO participating country. Can I still take part in the competition?

Unfortunately only students from IBO participating countries can compete.

 

How do I get to Warwick University?

Warwick University is in Coventry, which is extremely well connected, with easy links from major UK cities and international airports. We recommend travelling to Birmingham International airport, where you can get a 10 minute train ride to Coventry railway station. How much does it cost to participate at IBO 2017?

Registration fees for IBO 2017 are available on the online registration system.

 

Can I arrive before Sunday 23rd July? Can I stay later than Sunday 30th July?

While you are welcome to extend your stay in Coventry and the UK, unfortunately we cannot offer accommodation onsite at Warwick University before Sunday 23rd July or after Sunday 30th July. The Visit Coventry and Warwickshire website has a useful list of suggested places to stay in the area.

 

Do I need a visa to get into the UK?

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter the UK. You can easily check if you need a visa.  

 

How long will it take for my visa application to be processed?

You can check the visa application processing times for applications from your country of residence. Please note that these are estimated processing times and it is best to allow at least 10 weeks for your visa application to be processed.

 

Can the IBO organisers help me get a visa to attend IBO 2017?

Unfortunately it is the responsibility of individual delegations to arrange their visas for travelling to the UK.
